The Mill Museum on Route 66 / Museum in Illinois
After over a decade of renovation, The Mill on 66 has now opened as a museum featuring exhibits and displays about businesses that served travelers along Route 66 in Logan County. The museum features displays from The Mill, The Tropics, The Pig-Hip, Illy the Illico Robot and a gift shop with unique items. It originally opened as the Blue Mill in 1929. The specialty was grilled sandwiches offered day and night. Albert and Blossom Huffman purchased the business in 1945, and added a barroom and dance hall. Schnitzels became their signature meal. After closing in 1996, the building sat empty until 2006, when it was saved by the non-profit Route 66 Heritage Foundation of Logan County.
