Belvidere Cafe / Abandoned Place in Illinois
Albina and Vincenzo Cerolla, immigrants from Europe, purchased the site of this restaurant and motel in 1929 and established a small service station. IN 1937 they built a modern brick service station, the Belvidere Cafe and the four unit Belvidere Motel. In the 1940s the restaurant was expanded to include a dance hall. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the complex closed shortly after completion of I55 which bypassed Route 66.
