Brick Route 66 Alignment / Attraction in Illinois
Two historically significant segments of pre 1931 Route 66 (now state highway 4) can be found immediately to the north of Auburn. One is a 1,227 foot section of 16-foot wide roadway of Portland cement that dates to 1921. The second is a 1.5 section of this roadway that was overlaid with red brick in 1932. These segments originally served as the roadway for state highway 4.
