The museum is housed in the Old McLean County Courthouse, an American Renaissance style structure built between 1901-1903. It is situated on the public square in the historical Bloomington Central Business District. Both the district and the courthouse are listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The museum houses a variety of exhibits. Abraham Lincoln in McLean County examines Lincoln's work as an attorney in McLean County including his role in the anti-slavery movement. Pedal Power is a new exhibit that features the pedal-car collection of long-time State Farm executive Bruce Callis. His family has gifted 53 pedal cars from his personal collection to the Museum. There are also Route 66 related displays as well as exhibits that chronicle the county's history.
