Doc’s Soda Fountain / Restaurant in Illinois
Deck’s Drug Store opened on March 7, 1884. Established by Lewis C. Deck and B.F. Clark. At this time the store sold drugs, groceries, and hardware. The store was known as “The White Drug Store” as it was the only building front on the Girard square that was painted white from top to bottom. Robert and Wyman Deck, sons of Lewis W. and Naomi Deck, became the third generation to operate the drug store when they took over in 1960. In 2007, Bob and Renae Ernst purchased the drug store building, renamed it Doc’s Soda Fountain, and renovated the old fashioned soda fountain. They continue to serve lunches and ice cream deserts.
