Hiway House / Motel in New Mexico
With its original signage this motel is a unique time capsule. Hiway House was an early motel chain launched in 1956. It was launched by Arizona construction tycoon Del Webb, creator of the Sun City retirement communities at Phoenix, Arizona. At its peak there were hotels in Arcadia, California, Flagstaff and Holbrook in Arizona, and Tulsa, Oklahoma. This is the last surviving property.
