Pigeon Ranch / Attraction in New Mexico
Dating to about 1850, this building was part of a hostelry and stage stop complex on the Santa Fe Trail. It was established by a French Canadian that spoke "Pigeon English." During the battle of Glorieta Pass in the American Civil War this building served as a field hospital. The building served as a tourist attraction for travelers on the National Old Trails Road, and on Route 66 before 1937. Directly across the road is a stone lined well of unknown origins. It is noted on 18th century maps.
