Two Guns / Abandoned Place in Arizona
The bridge at the site was built in 1915 to improve the National Old Trails Road. Ed Randolph established a store near the bridge in the same year. In 1921 Earl Cundriff acquired the property and built the Canyon Lodge, a complex with store, campgrounds and cabins. In 1925, Harry "Indian" Miller leased a portion of the property and established a trading post and small zoo that he called Two Guns. On March 3, 1926, after an argument, Miller shot and killed Cundriff. In the 1930s Rimmy Jim Giddings established a trading post with service station at the site. With realignment of Route 66, a service station and zoo was built north of the bridge in 1960. In 1971 a fire destroyed most of the complex.
