The café originally opened as a hobby shop in 1954. It later became a restaurant. The restaurant was closed in the early 80’s and remained closed until it was purchased by Lilo in 1996. Lilo opened the restaurant with the help of her husband Patrick and daughters, Nancy and Brenda. Good quality American food and authentic German specialties are served. Lilo’s’ daily specials and homemade soups are popular with Route 66 enthusiasts. Lilo has been baking her giant cinnamon rolls, fresh bread and her now famous, carrot cake since the first day of opening her restaurant. Lilo was born in Wiesbaden, Germany in 1941. Her family had a carpentry business in Bierstadt. She married Patrick, stationed in the Army at Camp Perry in 1961. Pat and Lilo came to Seligman in 1962. Patrick lived in Seligman most of his life and brought Lilo there to start their family. They raised their 3 children, Nancy, Brenda and Patrick Jr. in Seligman. They are very proud of their 3 kids, 8 grandkids and 2 great grandchildren, all of them have worked or soon will be working once they can reach the counter! Lilo continues to work full time and Pat is now retired from his real job and now he will tell you that he is the full time “go for” and chauffer for the restaurant. Westside Lilo’s continues to be family owned and operated by Lilo and Pat Russell with their daughter Brenda Bryant.
