In Wilmington follow IL-53 as it turns slight right and become Baltimore St (IL-53). WilmingtonContinue on Baltimore St. (IL-53). Gemini Giant and the Launching Pad Drive-In Continue as Baltimore St. renames briefly to Bridge St. Cross the Kanakee River Continue as Bridge St. renames back to Baltimore St. Continue slight left (=southwest) onto IL-53 at the intersection with 5th St. and Stripmine Rd. Take exit 240 from I-55.
We leave I-55 about 2 miles early as exit 238 – where we would historically exit left on IL-129 has been removed from use and an essential bridge has been taken out. Turn left (=east) onto Lorenzo Rd. Cross over I-55. Turn right (=south) on the East Frontage Rd. As the Eastern Frontage Rd. turns right to join Washington St, turn left (=south) on Washington St. (IL-129) Continue south on IL-129. BraidwoodContinue south on IL-129. Till Gardner, IL-129 runs parallel to the older alignment, but on the other side of the railroad. |
